Emma Walker has worked in the outdoor industry for a decade, with jobs ranging from avalanche educator to retail associate to overnight camp counselor to raft guide. She holds an MS in Outdoor and Environmental Education from Alaska Pacific University (and while she jokes that it's a master's degree in camping, her focus was on decision making in high-risk mountaineering environments). Emma is the author of two books, Best Dog Hikes Colorado and Dead Reckoning: Learning from Accidents in the Outdoors (forthcoming Spring 2021). She lives in Boise, Idaho, where she works as a freelance writer and spends as much time as possible exploring the local trails on foot, bike, and skis.
