Kit Smith

Kit Smith grew up in Marin County, California, where he developed a love of nature and outdoor recreation. He split his time between his parents’ cabin in the Central Sierras and the San Francisco Bay Area. From mountain biking the legendary trails around Mount Tamalpais to surfing at Ocean Beach to sailing off the coast of California, if it was an outdoor activity, Kit was doing it. His love of the mountains took him to Crested Butte, Colorado, where he received a B.A. degree while snowboarding nearly every day of the season, and hiking, backpacking, and fishing in the summer. He also developed a love of Scuba Diving and has traveled all over the world in search of the most spectacular dive spots. After graduating from Western Colorado University, his passion for action sports and the outdoors led him to Southern California. There he honed his writing skills at Snowboarder Magazine, then later as a Copywriter at Quiksilver, and most recently had been a Senior Copywriter at a well-known advertising agency. When he’s not reviewing gear, he is climbing 14ers (11 California ones in the past year), mountain biking, backpacking, surfing, snowboarding, and exploring the world.
