| Bottom Line | One of the more comfortable sleeping bags on the market for side sleepers | This down bag is an excellent value for anyone who prizes warmth, comfort, and affordability above all else | A roomy synthetic bag that's great for car camping, but too large to reasonably carry on a backpacking trip | An affordable, no-frills bag that's perfect for anyone just starting out, though its packed size limits its appeal for long backpacking trips | A low-cost, warm-weather bag that's fine for warm summer nights, but should not be trusted for anything even close to cold weather |

The Disco Endless Promise 15 is a comfort-forward sleeping bag. The fabric and loft are supple to the touch, and there is extra room to wriggle around inside, which is especially beneficial for side sleepers who find mummy-style bags too confining.
It also packs down well, thanks largely to the well-made compression sack it comes with. The 650 fill-power down may not be as compressible as higher-quality down (like 850 fill-power down). But the adjustable straps on the compression sack let you squeeze it as much as possible, so it takes up relatively little volume in your backpack.
Another great aspect of the Disco 15 is its temperature-control options. In addition to the main zipper, two 'Thermo Gill' vents dissipate heat from your torso. Second, an oversized neck baffle insulates well, but you can easily fold it down and out of the way if you want more airflow. Between these three options, you can adjust your level of warmth to exactly where you want it.
Dislikes
NEMO is always trying to reinvent the wheel when it comes to outdoor gear. Sometimes they knock it out of the park, and sometimes their ideas need a little more R&D before going into production, which is the case here. The innovative Thermo Gill vents are simply frustrating to use.
In total, they require four zippers to operate – two on the outside of the bag and two on the inside. And NEMO decided to use flimsy zipper pulls that constantly snag on the fabric. So to open these 'gills', you have to reach your arms outside the bag and pull them inch by inch as they snag, then do the same on the inside zippers. It's too much work for what a simple pull on the main zipper already accomplishes.
Another odd choice was using a different material for the footbox and hood. Yes, it's nice that these shell pieces are waterproof and recyclable, but they are also crinkly and loud. For the footbox? Sure, why not. But on the hood so close to your ears? This just seems like a big oversight.
Should You Buy the NEMO Disco Endless Promise 15?
The saving grace of the NEMO Disco Endless Promise 15 is that you don't have to use the gills if you don't want to, and that crinkly hood panel is on the back of your head. So if you're buying this bag as a side sleeper, the downsides are basically null and void. Anyone who wants a bit of extra room to move around should consider this sleeping bag – gimmicks aside, it's worth it.
What Other Backpacking Sleeping Bags Should You Consider?
The Mountain Hardwear Bishop Pass 15 is a warmer, lighter, and more packable sleeping bag at a similar price point. And its design is a bit more traditional, including a helpful storage pocket. If you're considering the NEMO Disco 15 for its comfort, you should check out the Marmot Wraptor Down 15. It's warmer and roomier than the Disco, plus it has no zippers, an inventive take that works surprisingly well.
