Our Verdict
The Summit is Solo Stove's updated take on their widely recognized smokeless pit, now with a built-in stand and a lower profile for improved flame visibility. The biggest change is a “Quick Strike Cone” designed to use alcohol based fuel starter gel and eliminate the need for kindling. Though we found this design less user-friendly than advertised, with multiple failed attempts at igniting a fire with the included fire starter gel. All things said, the Summit 24" is large enough for multiple people, burns clean, and has minimal smoke. If you already own an existing Solo Stove, the Summit may not be compelling enough to switch. However, if you're looking for your first smokeless fire pit, the Summit is worth considering.

Our Analysis and Test Results
One of the most widely recognized fire pit manufacturers, Solo Stove's newest offering, the Summit 24", expands upon their already impressive smokeless design and includes a few new design features worth considering.

Heat Output
Measuring the inside walls of the Summit using our infrared thermometer, we gathered readings upwards of 1,100 degrees Fahrenheit. We also had our testers gauge the radiant heat while sitting around the pit from various distances at two, four, and six feet away. The Summit delivers enough warmth for smaller groups but falls short for larger groups and gatherings due to a lack of radiant heat.
The Summit strikes a good balance between heat output and burn time. While it wasn't the absolute hottest pit tested, it still produced enough heat without sacrificing burn time and efficiency. Allowing us to enjoy fires without constant tending or burning through wood too quickly.

Smoke Management
Like most other smokeless designs, the Summit's double-walled design pulls air from the base and burns off smoke before exiting the top of the pit.
Despite its lower profile, the Summit did an impressive job of eliminating smoke. Even when using damp or wet wood, the Summit was effective at burning off smoke particles and reducing visible smoke. We never felt the need to shuffle chairs or dodge smoke, unlike most non-smokeless pits.

Portability
The Summit weighs 35.2 lbs with an outer diameter of 24.5". Light enough for occasional transport, but it's not ideal for camping or traveling. The included stand does provide a more secure carrying point under the base of the pit than previous Solo Stoves. Our one minor gripe is that the cone attached to the base plate adds a significant amount of weight, making it tricky to lift and clean ash out of the pan with no dedicated handle or grip.
Ease of Cleaning
The Summit comes with a removable ash pan that sits under the base plate. It's a simple but effective way to clean ash, though you do have to wait several hours or more for the pit to cool down to dispose of ash. The ash pan is a tight fit, making removal slightly awkward, but it does prevent excess ash from falling past the pan into the bottom of the fire pit.

Ease of Assembly
Assembly for the Summit takes less than 2 minutes from box to assembled. It only requires putting the ash pan, base plate, and fire ring into place.
