Immediately after slipping on the Sureshot Pro gloves, we noticed their comfort and dexterity. They're light on the hands, making them easy to wear all day. They also don't take up a lot of backpack or pocket space, something we really liked.
When it comes to fidgeting with stuff like zippers, phones, or shoelaces, their trim design allows for fumble-free finger movement. Their touchscreen capabilities are very responsive, but these gloves are a little wider than lightweight/liner options, so more pinpoint activities, like texting, take a little more time.
Leather mat
Goat leather reinforced palms and fingers give the Sureshot Pro gloves added durability and grip, something we appreciated when using trekking or ski poles or carrying a to-go cup from our favorite coffee shop. A top-grade nylon/spandex shell and solid stitching are clear evidence of quality construction.
For being thinner, mid-weight gloves, the Sureshot Pro offers EnduraLoft Polyester insulation that is effective and warm. We were pleasantly surprised at their ability to keep our hands warm, even on chillier nights.
These gloves don't compare with larger, full-bodied ski gloves, but they can definitely pull their own weight for any activity off the slopes.
We found Outdoor Research's Ventia liner to be very effective at blocking both wind and water, making the Sureshot Pro one of the more weatherproof options in our lineup.
The gloves repelled water even when they were completely submerged, and they effectively blocked winds up to 40 mph.
Dislikes
There was little we disliked about the Sureshot Pro, therefore our negative notes here will be very short and sweet. The price tag is higher than other models, but we also feel that you'll get what you pay for (and they are still significantly less expensive than most ski gloves). These gloves aren't as breathable, and they're a little short on features, although we loved the features that they do offer.
The features we loved the most include premium goat-leather palms and fingers (two fingers), pull-on loops, and an elongated design that snugs deep into your jacket sleeve and secures with a Velcro strap.
Should You Buy the Outdoor Research Sureshot Pro?
If a mid-weight, general-purpose pair of gloves is what you're after, these dandies won't disappoint. Although not uber warm, they are still toasty enough for most activities. We think they are ideal for days when you're in and out of the car, store, or office, and need something to keep your hands warm during the transitions.
What Other Winter Gloves Should You Consider?
If you're seeking a thinner glove designed for active winter pursuits like running or hiking, we like the Arc'teryx Venta for its wind-stopping power and comfortable fit. For a heavier glove, we recommended the Arc'teryx Fission SV. We also really love the affordable warmth of the Carhartt Waterproof Insulated, but it has limited dexterity compared to these higher-end models.
