Our Verdict

The Jackery 1000 v2 is a decent option for off-grid camping and emergency backup around the house. The simple interface and straightforward design are on brand, and the small size makes it a truly portable option for short camping trips and travel. That said, a few drawbacks, such as slower charging and a limited feature set, make it a less compelling option in the increasingly competitive 1,000 Wh power station category. Still, for brand-loyal Jackery customers or those who value a simple, user-friendly design, the 1000 v2 might offer everything you need.

The Jackery 1000 v2 is noticeably compact given its power output, thanks in part to the foldable handle and uniform shape, which also make it easier to pack other gear around and fit into storage spaces. It also boasts one of the best watt-to-pound ratios we've measured, making it a great option for off-grid camping and overland travel. Weighing just 24.4 lbs, the 1000 v2 can be easily lifted by one person and carried into campsites.


During our power output testing, we measured 910 Wh out of its advertised 1,070 Wh, which is a solid 85% efficiency. Measuring the actual power output and efficiency of each unit gives us a better idea of how much of the stored battery capacity is actually available to use - a key factor in estimating how long you can realistically power each appliance or device. With 85% efficiency, we could comfortably power most of our camping gadgets, like an electric cooler and an induction cooktop, without concern.


We also appreciated how quiet the Jackery ran. Even when pushing the 1000 v2 near its max wattage, the fans stayed nearly silent. Perfect for sensitive environments, such as running a CPAP machine or using your power station at a workstation.

Dislikes


Unfortunately for the Jackery 1000 v2, the 1,000 Wh power station class is crowded and competitive. Even small gripes can be hard to overcome when determining the best-in-class.

Our first issue with the 1000 v2 is the lackluster charging speed. We measured a charging rate of just 563 Wh/hr, which took the Jackery almost 2 hours to complete a full recharge. Many competitors in the same class can achieve a full charge in under an hour.


While we appreciate the simplicity of Jackery power stations, equipping the 1000 with just three AC outlets is a bit disappointing. The spacing between ports could also be improved, especially for bulkier plugs like laptop chargers and camera batteries.


Lastly, the Jackery only supports up to 400 watts of solar. This would take the 1000 v2 about 3-4 hours to charge under ideal sunlight conditions. Many competitors in the 1,000 Wh class now support between 600 and 1,000 watts of solar, significantly reducing charging time. Although 400 watts of solar is a more realistic setup while camping off-grid, having the option to scale if you upgrade or add to your solar setup down the road is nice to have.

Should You Buy The Jackery 1000 v2?


If you're already in the Jackery ecosystem and like the simplistic design of Jackery products, the 1000 v2 can be a viable option. However, the 1,000 Wh category is loaded with plenty of strong options that will give you more bang for your buck than the Jackery 1000 v2 can offer.

What Other Power Stations Should You Consider?


Similarly sized but with faster charging, more features, and better value, the Anker Solix C1000 Gen 2 is our favorite choice for off-grid power. It's the most well-rounded power station we've tested, capable of handling off-grid camping while also coming in handy for last-minute power during outages. The larger Jackery 2000 v2 is also a great option for a more complete off-grid setup, capable of supporting multiple days of use and providing enough power to run high-draw appliances.
