Our Verdict

The MAGCOMSEN ski jacket is warm and weather-resistant enough for most days on the ski hill, making it a decent choice for users on a budget. It also has some good features, like an internal zippered pocket and a removable hood. Otherwise, this jacket is unremarkable, with a generic fit and budget materials. If you are looking for an inexpensive jacket for occasional days of skiing that can also perform decently well in all winter weather uses, this jacket may be for you. But there are better inexpensive options, like the Free Soldier ski jacket. The Columbia Whirlibird V Interchange offers similar warmth and weather resistance, with more versatility, for a low price.

Performance Comparison

Warmth

The MAGCOMSEN ski jacket is relatively warm, thanks to generous amounts of synthetic insulation and a faux-fur lining throughout the torso and the hood. Elastic around the sleeve cuffs and hook-and-loop straps ensure a tight closure around the wrists. This jacket is cozy to wear and provides enough warmth for most days at the ski resort. We didn't hesitate to grab this jacket in average winter temperatures, but if it gets really cold, this jacket might not be enough.

Weather Resistance

Unfortunately, we were unable to ascertain the specific materials used for waterproofing on this jacket. Marketing materials claim that there is a waterproof membrane, but water made it through the jacket relatively easily during our shower test. Although it can withstand snow and the occasional raindrop, we don't recommend this jacket for use in the worst weather. The synthetic insulation remains warm when wet, and the external zippers are waterproof. Unfortunately, the hood closure around the face leaves a huge gap between the torso and the hood in the front, meaning wind gets right in.

Comfort and Fit

The MAGCOMSEN ski jacket has a boxy, untailored fit that feels generic. It doesn't curve to the contours of the body, or at least to the figures of our testers, very well. That said, it has enough range of motion for basic skiing technique on easy or moderately difficult slopes. The faux fur on the inside lining feels comfortable against the body, which is a plus. The hood isn't comfortable to wear over a helmet.

Ventilation

The faux-fur interior and lack of armpit vents make this jacket a poor choice for aerobic skiing and other high-output activities. Don't expect to be able to dump much heat while wearing this jacket. An unexpected upside is that the neck gap between the hood and the jacket allows plenty of airflow around the neck. This seemingly unintended feature increases ventilation a little bit.

Style

This jacket isn't anything special to look at. With a boxy cut and a wide, flappy hood, we don't feel like runway models in this piece. At best, it can be described as average ski style and evokes a budget, unrefined look. On the upside, this jacket comes in almost two dozen colors, making it easy to find the right look for your ski outfit.

Features

The MAGCOMSEN jacket has two handwarmer pockets, one external zippered chest pocket, and one internal zippered chest pocket. It has a removable and adjustable hood, but the hood has poor helmet coverage. It also leaves a large gap around the front of the neck, making it ineffective in bad weather. Notably, there is no ski pass pocket or powder skirt. The features on this jacket are adequate, but not impressive.

Should You Buy the MAGCOMSEN ski jacket?

This jacket doesn't stand out in any way other than its relatively low price, and still, there are better jackets on the market for a lower price. We would only recommend this jacket if you want a wide variety of color choices. There are over a dozen color options to choose from to customize your look on the slopes.

What Other Ski Jackets Should You Consider?

This jacket performs fairly well considering its price tag, but the GEMYSE Men's Mountain Fleece Lining delivers the best performance per dollar. The 686 Smarty 3-in-1 Form Insulated has incredible versatility for the price, with a 3-in-1 jacket construction that is hard to beat for value. If you want a high-performance jacket at a great value, the Helly Hansen Alpha 4.0 is a good choice.
