Hands pressed down. Sweat gathering on your brow. You push up into bakasana—crow pose—and your fingers don't budge. Your hands and feet can engage and traction strap on the Jade Harmony 2.0.
This textured grip has made Jade mats popular in the yoga world for over two decades. They are tacky enough to prevent slipping, yet not so much as to feel sticky.
Cushion-wise, it strikes a nice balance: enough support to protect knees on harder surfaces and still firm and stable for balancing postures. Definitely a strong option if grip is your top priority.
The mat is fairly durable and can last for years of daily use. Plus, Jade Yoga's commitment to the environment resonates with many practitioners — for every mat sold, they plant a tree.
Jade Yoga partners with Trees for the Future, a nonprofit that helps restore degraded lands and plant trees in regions like Africa, Central America, and Asia.
Dislikes
While the dry grip is excellent, the Harmony 2.0 became noticeably more slippery when wet. For testing, we simulated hot yoga conditions: after a dynamic 60-minute session at around 95°F (35°C) with moderate humidity, we also lightly misted the mat surface to simulate heavy sweat. This made the mat surface noticeably slicker.
For a stress test, we poured a liter of water onto the mat to test its saturation. Under these conditions, it became easier to slide out during tensioned poses like warrior two or wide-legged forward fold, and sun salutations felt more slick overall.
While the dry grip is excellent for holding poses, it can feel too grippy during transitions, making smooth movement between poses more challenging. For example, the texture can feel abrasive when you roll over your toes from up-dog to down-dog.
Should You Buy The Jade Harmony 2.0?
The Harmony 2.0 is a strong choice if you value stability, support, and eco-friendly materials in your yoga practice. Its natural rubber surface provides excellent dry grip and durable cushioning. Plus, the “plant a tree” initiative adds an extra feel-good factor for environmentally conscious buyers. However, if you practice hot yoga or sweat heavily, you may find that it becomes slippery. Its strong grip is polarizing: some people become loyal to this mat because of its secure, tacky texture, while others find the grip a bit too much.
What Other Yoga Mats Should You Consider?
While it is one of the grippiest on the market, the Harmony 2.0 is outmatched in wet grip by the Manduka GRP Adapt 2.0 and Prana Verde, which would be better choices for hot yoga. If you like a dense, supportive cushion, you can't go wrong with the slightly denser Manduka Pro.
