Our Verdict

Don't look past the Oncai Memory Foam Scuff if you're looking for a fun and inexpensive indoor scuff. Available in classic plaid, gingham, and other knitted patterns, they'll spruce up your morning routine on an otherwise dreary day. Highly breathable, comfy, lightweight, and made for casual wear, they prove just enough slipper to compel us to grab. Just don't take them outside, as their design won't last too long and could be downright uncomfortable. But getting them dirty inside only means a trip through the washing machine on a regular cycle to get them looking good again.

REASONS TO AVOID

Cotton blend slippers with open backs like the Oncai Memory Foam Scuff are hard to rival for breathability, especially when we compare them to enclosed moccasins made of leather or suede.

If you overheat in those materials, maybe these cotton blend uppers are all you'll need.

With minimal stitching in the upper and a memory foam footbed, we found the Oncai are fairly comfy to wear. The extra-soft faux fur lining makes these a dream to slip on.

The Oncai Memory Foam Scuff are lightweight, and wearing them felt effortless.

Being an inexpensive option, we don't mind borrowing these slippers out and don't fear leaving them haphazardly wherever they lay rushing to work, even though we have dogs to content with.

Dislikes

Like many open-heeled designs, absolute warmth just isn't going to be at the top of the list of advantages the Oncai Memory Foam Scuff brings to the table. Although it looks like fur and is soft, the material is a synthetic blend, which just won't insulate as well as the real thing.

Paired with the open heel, the very low-profile, lug-less outsole doesn't really afford any extra grip, especially indoors on smooth carpet. Buy these principally for indoor use, as the claims of water-resistance are also a bit dubious.

Construction of the Oncai Memory Foam Scuff is okay, but compared to some leather and suede slippers we've tested, there isn't much to write home about. This slipper is likely to wear out faster than some of these other hardier materials, succumbing to abuse faster. Memory foam has a reputation to crush out, never to rebound back to its full volume, and the rubber outsole feels paper thin.

Should you Buy the Oncai Memory Foam Scuff?

For a budget buy, they do the job. We thought the gingham design of the upper is fun, reminding us of a classic picnic tablecloth. The trim faux fur lining also looked good while keeping the bottoms of our feet and toes plenty warm most wintry days. As a cheapie house slipper, they do the job, but do yourself a favor and seek a different pair if you're specifically looking to venture outside more than a few steps.

What Other Men's Slippers Should You Consider?

For a budget buy that works in a pinch outside for necessities like taking out the trash, try out the HomeTop Knit Moccasin or the Amazon Essentials Moccasin; both will be more stable, yet will still feel comfy indoors, where they excel. The Zigzagger Moccasin also features its own take on faux fur, while also being generally warmer.
