WTB Volt Fusion Form Titanium Review

Balancing comfort and performance, this isn't the lightest saddle on the market, nor is it the softest, but it excels by being completely unremarkable in the best way possible; you simply forget it’s there

Our Verdict

The WTB Volt Fusion Form Titanium is a perfectly modernized classic, taking one of the most popular saddles in history and injecting it with high-tech materials. Its standout feature is the Fusion Form base, with a carbon fiber-infused nylon construction tuned for improved flex. The signature Whale Tail and Love Channel provide localized pressure relief, while Titanium rails deliver the ultimate balance of weight savings and vibration damping. Whether you're grinding up a technical climb or shifting weight for a descent, the shorter 265mm length and recessed padding provide a sleek, snag-free profile that feels supportive without the “hammock” effect of traditional soft saddles.

Our Analysis and Test Results

Fusion Form represents a fundamental shift from standard injection-molded polypropylene to a sophisticated carbon-infused nylon construction. This process enables WTB to precisely tune fiber content to a specific flex profile that balances support and comfort for the saddle's intended use. By insetting the padding directly into the shell for a sleeker, more stable fit, this technology creates a palpable difference on the trail. The increased base flex allows your pelvis to sink deeper into the saddle, offering a more cradled feel and superior sit-bone support compared to traditional, stiffer designs.

Comfort

The general shape of the Volt gives it an advantage. Using what WTB calls the Love Channel, that V-shaped groove down the center reduces the pressure on your sensitive areas and allows your mass to rest on your ischial tuberosities. This design language has become more ubiquitous over the years, but WTB also uses a cutout where the V approaches the nose. While supple deck material is quite nice, this area uses no deck material and allows the padding to push into the recess.

The WTB Volt succeeds through a “Goldilocks” padding density that balances support with performance, avoiding the common pitfalls of excessive or insufficient cushioning. Its iconic teardrop shape and gradual tail arc enable an unrestricted pedal stroke, while the subtle rear rise and anatomical groove cradle the sit bones and relieve pressure on sensitive areas. This refined geometry ensures the Volt delivers a consistent, comfortable experience, making it a staple for riders seeking a proven, versatile design.

The classic WTB side profile features a minimal cradle and a slight tail rise, providing the necessary support to keep the rider securely in position during extended pedaling sessions.

Performance

While some saddles force constant adjustment, the Volt offers a “set-it-and-forget-it” experience that remains unnoticeable throughout the ride. Its dependable design avoids flashiness in favor of consistent, all-around performance, allowing the rider to focus entirely on the trail rather than their positioning.

The Volt delivers a highly comfortable experience by blending an anatomical groove with a supportive cradle that maintains efficient power transfer without sacrificing cushion. Its compact 265mm length and medium width allow for effortless maneuvering on and off the back of the seat, while the cover features textured top stripes for stability and smooth side panels to eliminate friction against the legs during the pedal stroke.

Durability

Continuing WTB's legacy of durability, the Volt features a robust one-piece microfiber cover that resists wear even after months of heavy use. Its clever design replaces traditional abrasion-resistant patches with a slightly protruding shell at the tail, effectively shielding the fabric from impact and crash damage. This rugged construction is bolstered by high-strength titanium rails that remain silent and wear-free, ensuring the saddle stays as resilient as it is quiet over multiple seasons.

Versatility

The WTB Volt is a total chameleon, proving its worth across everything from grueling XC marathons and punchy enduro laps to gravel adventures and even daily commutes. It serves as a dependable “do-it-all” perch that prioritizes consistent comfort over niche specialization, making it an easy recommendation for nearly any discipline. While you gram geeks might find this specific model a touch heavy, you can always spring for the carbon-railed version at 174 grams and enjoy a lighter wallet as well.

Weight

Our Volt test saddle weighed 229g at 142mm wide. While not the lightest, it's a respectable weight perch for a trail bike these days. If you're counting grams, check out our lightweight favorite, the SQLab 611 Ergowave Carbon, which weighs in at just 159 grams.

Value

Starting at just $65, the WTB Volt is a value proposition. While the base model comes with a few more grams than we'd prefer on our fancy steeds, you can't argue with its value. great value. Even this Titanium model with a downright respectable all-mountain weight is pretty reasonably priced at $129. We've had versions of this saddle for many years, and aside from one that was involved in a bad crash, none of them are worse for wear.

Conclusion

The WTB Volt is a solid choice for the top of your dropper. While we've been riding the Volt for years and have never had any complaints, the Fusion Form base seems to provide the saddle with slightly more conformity. The Carbon model is incredibly lightweight and somewhat expensive, while the Titanium and Chromoly models strike an excellent balance of weight and value. If weight is not a concern for you, save a few dollars and get the steel-railed model.

Other Versions

WTB offers a wide range of mountain bike, gravel, and road saddles, and most models are available in multiple versions with different rail and base materials and widths. The Volt is available with Carbon, Titanium (tested), Chromoly, and Steel rails in widths of 135mm, 142mm, and 150mm. The latest model uses the Fusion Form base material instead of the Flex Tuned base, giving it more give in the right places.
