Our Verdict
The GSI Outdoors Glacier Stainless Troop is a large-capacity stainless steel cook set designed to feed a larger group. It includes two large pots with lids, as well as one large skillet with a collapsible handle. The wired handles on the pots make it easy to fetch water from an open stream or cook over an open flame, depending on your setup. The rounded and smooth edges of the pot's interiors make for easy cleaning, although the surfaces are quickly scratched if using a metal utensil. The pots and pan nest easily into a mesh carry bag, and the smaller pot has enough space to store some serving ware, a dish towel, or to have that essential bag of coffee on hand for the morning. Although heavy and bulky, the capacity is worthwhile when you're feeding a larger group.

We liked this set for cooking large meals for a group. It can be hard to feed a group of more than four when camping, but we were pleased with the larger pots and skillet for making larger amounts of food.

The stainless steel construction and wired handles on the pots make this a versatile set for your camp stove or even for cooking over an open fire (except for the frying pan, which has a rubberized handle). Aside from the potential to melt the handle if it gets too close to a flame, the set feels quality-made and quite durable.

The Glacier Stainless Troop includes smooth, stainless steel cooking surfaces that are easy to wipe clean. During our scrambled eggs test, we couldn't help but notice how easy the rounded pots and skillet are to clean, however, they are also easy to scratch. But since there's no non-stick coating, this is more of a cosmetic issue than anything.
The stainless construction and rounded edges make for easy cleanup.
Dislikes
Weighing in at just over 8 pounds, the Glacier Stainless is among the heavier sets that we tested. It's also large and will require a lot more space inside your travel rig.
It would be nice if the lids had holes for draining pasta water, and we also wish there had been a trivet included. And there are no dishes or silverware included in the set, so you'll have to provide your own.

Should You Buy the GSI Outdoors Glacier Stainless Troop?
If you're planning on feeding a group and are after a quality, high-capacity set of pots and pans to get the job done, the Glacier Stainless is a niche and versatile option. The stainless steel pots feature rounded edges that are easy to clean and the large capacity makes it easy to feed lots of people at once. If you've got the space for it in your camping setup and are willing to provide your own servingware and utensils, this set is worth checking out.

If you don't need to cook for a group and you want a set that also includes serving ware, our team was really impressed by the Gerber ComplEAT 16-piece Cookset. The quality of all the materials and the larger capacity of the serving ware make this set a win for a group or family of four. If you're looking for a comprehensive set that's incredibly lightweight, check out the GSI Outdoors Bugaboo Ceramic Camper Cookset. The OXO Camp Cookware Set with Travel Bag is another great set with a larger capacity. It's heavier due to the carbon and stainless steel pots, but it packs into a more compact size.
