Our Verdict
The OXO Camp Cookware Set with Travel Bag is our favorite cookware set for van lifers or anyone on an extended road trip. The heavy-duty pots and pans are nicer than some of the cookware our testers have in their home kitchens! We love the durability and quality of the two stainless steel pots and lids, along with the spacious nonstick carbon steel coated frying pan that makes it easy to flip pancakes or fry eggs. We found it somewhat annoying to have to swap the singular handle between the pots and pan, but it's at least sturdy and durable. The set packs easily into a very nice travel bag. It weighs around 9 pounds, but if you're just toting it from your car to the picnic table, you likely won't mind, and its great performance will outweigh the heavy weight. If you spend a lot of time on the road and like to eat well while you're traveling, the OXO Camp is a great choice.

Our Analysis and Test Results
OXO has made a name for itself with its high-quality kitchen tools, and they've branched into camp cookware and created a quality product. The OXO Camp Cookware Set is a premium cookware set that's constructed from stainless and carbon steel to maximize cooking performance. We love the extra capacity along with the packable and stackable design that's perfect for feeding your friends at the campsite or on a road trip. This would be the perfect cookware set for van life or RVs where you need enough quality and capacity for substantial use.

Cooking Performance
The excellent cooking performance and large capacity are two of the greatest selling points for the OXO Camp cookset. The stainless steel pots along and the carbon steel frying pan are designed to handle high-heat cooking over your camp stove. The encapsulated base (or metal disc that is sealed inside the Stainless Steel construction) included in the stock pot construction helps to better distribute heat while cooking.
While we love the comfortable silicone grips included on the sides of the pots, we still found it necessary to utilize a hot pad or potholder to fully protect our fingers when transferring hot liquids. And for this reason, it would be nice to have a hot pad for each hand, rather than the single one included with the set.
The pre-seasoned carbon steel coating on the frying pan offered great nonstick performance, especially when it comes to frying or scrambling eggs or cleaning up without a ton of extra elbow grease. Carbon steel is a non-toxic coating made from a combination of iron and carbon, so we liked knowing we weren't chowing some strange chemical coating with our dinner. This coating will need to be seasoned similarly to cast iron, and it's also recommended that you don't use soap. OXO's website has a helpful guide on caring for carbon steel.

Ease of Cleaning
We love how easy it is to clean each surface of the OXO Camp. The smooth and rounded surfaces made for easy cleanup, while the nonstick surface of the frying pan could just be wiped clean with a paper towel.
The measurements of the design are printed rather than punched into the metal, creating a smooth surface rather than a spot that requires extra scrubbing. We had no real complaints about cleaning this set, so if easy cleanup is high on your list, this may just be the perfect set for you.

Features
The OXO Camp is a high-quality, yet simple cookware set. It includes two stock pots with lids, one 2.3 quart and one 5 quart, which allow for more capacity when preparing food for small groups. The lids also feature straining holes that allow you to easily drain pasta water. The set also includes a carbon steel frying pan along with a removable handle for better packability. Rounding out the set is a functional travel bag and a silicone pot holder for managing the hot handle during cooking.
It does not include any other serving features so you'll be responsible for acquiring servingware and utensils for actually eating your meals. There are permanent volumetric measurements on the interior of the pots for those camp chefs who prefer precision, and the silicone-covered handles and angled edges of the pots make for easier pouring. For a basic cookware set, the OXO Camp is thoughtfully designed with lots of helpful features. It's pricey, but you're getting quality pots and pans that should last a long time.
This is a simple, well-made cookware set with a large capacity, and it will cook a full meal with ease. Just make sure to pack your own servingware and utensils!
Durability
Besides some cast iron cooksets that we've tested, the OXO Camp is about as durable and quality as it gets. The stainless steel pots and carbon steel frying pan are virtually indestructible, and we expect them to be able to handle heavy use. And the interchangeable handle, though removable, is thick and sturdy enough to rotate between the pots and pan without any quality concerns.
We do recommend packing the hot pad over top of the carbon steel frying pan when you are storing or transporting the set, as this will better protect the pre-seasoned surface and help prevent scratches.
Every component of this set is durable and high-quality.
Packability
Despite its heavyweight design, the OXO Camp is rather packable thanks to a thoughtfully designed, quality carrying bag with enough space for each component to easily nest inside. The thick and sturdy handle is removable and stores inside an interior pocket, while the pots, lids, and pan easily stack inside the main compartment.
The travel bag has durable and sturdy handles that make it easy to carry the cookset from your van to the picnic table at your favorite campsite. There is also extra space on the interior for storing essential spices, a dish towel, or a bag of coffee ready for your morning brew.
The set nests easily into a stackable design that's perfect for transport.
Weight
The OXO Camp is not recommended for those seeking a lightweight and travel-ready design. Altogether, the heavy-duty cookware in this set weighs over 9 pounds.
The high-quality components increase the weight of the design, making them perhaps a better choice for RVs or van life, where you're looking for a set that can withstand the test of time with heavy use. The set is so nice, you could even bring it inside the house for everyday use.

Should You Buy the OXO Camp Cookware Set?
The OXO Camp is an excellent cookware set for people who like to eat well on the open road. We highly recommend this design for van lifers or RVers because of its durable yet packable design, and its larger capacity means you can cook full meals without feeling like you're using dinky camp pots. Although a little extra investment up front, we think you'll be using this cookware set for a long time without any durability concerns.
