Our Verdict
The Coleman Cozy is an excellent camping mattress for campers who prioritize size, weight, and price point. Its U-shaped top has raised edges that kept us from rolling off in the middle of the night, though it's only 24 inches wide, so there isn't much room to spread out under a blanket or sleeping bag. It also weighs only 2.6 pounds, making it one of the few camping mattresses that can handle some backpacking. The Cozy's felt-like surface was soft against the skin, but it attracted dirt, hair, and down feathers, making it harder to keep clean. If you don't need a camping mattress for cooler temperatures and don't mind narrower dimensions, keep the Coleman Cozy in mind.

Our Analysis and Test Results

Comfort
For a few nights, the Coleman Cozy is plenty comfortable to catch some shut-eye outdoors. However, it doesn't have the largest inflated dimensions, and isn't our first recommendation for campers who like to sprawl out when they go to bed, coming in at about 22 inches wide.
One of our favorite aspects of the Coleman Cozy is the raised edges, which cradle the entire body and kept us on the sleeping pad all night. However, the center of the pad is only about 3.5 inches thick, so side sleepers might find their shoulder touching the ground depending on how firm they like their camping mattress.
We loved the shape of the Cozy, which reduced the likelihood of roll-offs.
The Cozy has a felt top that felt very inviting against the skin, which we especially appreciated on warm summer nights when we slept directly on top of the Cozy and used only a blanket over ourselves.

Ease of Use
This simple model has a minimalist design that's more like a backpacking pad than a camping mattress. It uses a single valve for inflation and deflation, and the stuff sack doubles as an inflation bag, making setup easier and prolonging the life of the Coleman Cozy.
The raised edges that made the Coleman Cozy more comfortable also made it more user-friendly…nobody likes to accidentally roll off in the middle of the night onto the ground. The Cozy's soft fabric top is also fairly quiet, which can be a problem in some models with a crinklier fabric construction. This model relies primarily on air for cushioning, which makes it easier to deflate and fold back into its stuff sack, even though that stuff sack is substantially smaller than most of the lineup.

Warmth
This was the weakest metric for the Coleman Cozy, and we strongly encourage you to use it for warmer-weather camping. The reported R-value of “3+” felt accurate across our review team, though we stayed warmer on the Cozy with more blankets and heavier-weight sleeping bags.
Below about 40 degrees Fahrenheit, we needed a foam pad under the Coleman Cozy to stay warm. Below about 30 degrees, a more substantial sleeping bag and extra blankets were necessary, which some testers argued defeated the Cozy's packability. Why use such a packable camping mattress if you have to bring so much extra bedding?

Versatility
The Coleman Cozy is somewhat limited by its lack of warmth, but it is still packable enough for some campers to take on backpacking trips, which is a rarity in the camping mattress category.
With narrower dimensions, the Coleman Cozy might not be the best choice for longer trips, but in our experience, most camping mattresses are used for weekend getaways anyways. Some models in this category work great for hosting guests at home, but we found the Cozy a bit too small for in-home sleeping if you want to keep your guests comfy. Ultimately, the Cozy held its own in versatility for backpacking, but it's best for shorter-duration, warm-weather camping.

Packed Size
This is a phenomenally packable option among camping mattresses. At only 2.6 pounds, the Coleman Cozy is far lighter than most of the competition in its gear class, and can even fit inside a backpack fairly well. It's important to note that this isn't as small as a true backpacking sleeping pad, but it's a fraction of the size of a true camping mattress that historically puts comfort above portability.
In addition to its low weight, we also measured the Coleman Cozy at just 11 inches long and 6 inches wide, making it substantially smaller than most camping mattresses on the market. Whether you need to squeeze your gear into a small car or fit it in a bag for lighter-duty backpacking, the Cozy won't cramp your style.

Should You Buy the Coleman Cozy?
If you want a packable camping mattress, look no further than the Coleman Cozy. It's substantially less expensive than most camping mattresses or backpacking pads, while also offering decent comfort for a few nights outdoors. If you're leaning toward a true camping mattress that puts comfort first, this might not be the right fit, but if you want an option for backpacking andcar camping, the Cozy is worth considering.

What Other Camping Mattresses Should You Consider?
Take a hard look at the Lost Horizon Full if you need an inexpensive model that's incredibly comfy for car camping or van life; just keep in mind it isn't nearly as packable as the Cozy. If the price point of the Cozy still feels too high, check out the HomeMate CertiPUR-US, which is even less expensive and is more comfy.
