While not a smokeless fire pit, we were able to manage the smoke with dry, not overstuffed wood.
When not used as a fire pit, it is a great coffee table. Putting the lid on also gives you peace of mind when you are no longer monitoring the fire pit and want to go back inside.
The lid also protects the inside from weather and from the elements, although we definitely recommend using the included cover
The table helps keep small children from getting as close to the fire pit. This is a nice bonus, and often buying a fire pit means premium smokeless models cost many hundreds of dollars.
Unlike most smokeless fire pits, it's fun to look through the sides and actually see the glowing fire. You also feel the fire more.
Dislikes
The biggest dislike is the assembly time. This fire pit comes with many parts and screws.
This is not a true smokeless fire pit, so if you don't carefully manage the fire, we did experience more smoke than many other fire pits.
It is not easy to clean. There is no removable pan, so you can easily tip it over; you need to manually scoop out the ashes. We use the Pure Garden Store Ash Bucket.
Should You Buy the Outvue?
If you don't use this fire pit much and are very careful about covering it or storing it indoors when not in use, you can get a lot of life out of it. That said, it's made of thin metal, and many people will run into rust and longevity issues. If you're careful with it, it has a lot of value and will delight many people.
What Other Fire Pits Should You Consider?
The main competitor in this review is the Yaheetech Multifunctional Table. We like the bigger size of the Outvue, the ease of turning it into a coffee table, and the grills. However, the Yaheetech is much more affordable. The big question is whether you want all the flexibility of the Outvue or the smokeless portability of the GVDV Smokeless, which is about the same cost.
