The ExOfficio Give-N-Go 2.0 are made for intense, hot and humid weather, where growing odors can be a real problem. ExOfficio's anti-odor treatment works quite well; we found that these boxer briefs held onto smells less than expected for a synthetic pair.
The stretch mesh fabric used on the Give-N-Gos is designed to wick perspiration off your skin, through the fabric, and out to the world at large. This can help maintain the natural cooling mechanism of sweating, instead of holding onto sweat and making you feel uncomfortable.
We were thoroughly impressed with how fast these boxer briefs dried in our line drying test. This makes them an obvious choice for travel or lengthy outdoor trips where you may be washing your skivvies in the sink or creek and hanging them to dry overnight for next day wear.
The lightweight nylon fabric is also stretchy, clinging gently to the skin and providing a nice protection from chafing of our inner thighs.
Low-profile flatlock seams negate any problem areas where annoyances could build up.
The Give-N-Go are sewn well and also built to last. We were pleased that the design and seamwork showed a lot of refinement, considering the high price. Our ultimate conclusion was that if you go on frequent backpacking trips or travel where you're trying to pack light, these boxer briefs deliver a high value for their price
Dislikes
For such a light, sheer pair of boxer briefs, we were surprised at the poor air permeability. Air just has a harder time moving through the fabric, even though perspiration moves through much more easily.
One small detail that's a head scratcher for us is the waistband: it's much shorter than other pairs we've worn. We prefer taller bands, which keep our boxer briefs in place without folding.
After having several pairs in rotation for a few years, we do find that the fabric of the ExOfficio Give-N-Go 2.0 has a tendency to pill with long-term wear. This doesn't impact its performance, but it detracts from its visual appeal.
Should you Buy the ExOfficio Give-N-Go 2.0?
If other boxer briefs just aren't performing up to your needs, the ExOfficio Give-N-Go 2.0 may surprise you in just how much more comfortable that can make your daily life. And for everyone else, these are a killer pair for outside recreating and traveling the world over. The Give-N-Go costs more than other pairs of boxer briefs, sometimes many times more than the multi-packs in our lineup. A tight budget would be the only reason we'd steer away from this pair from ExOfficio.
What Other Boxer Briefs Should You Consider?
The Tommy John Second Skin 4"'s 90% Lenzing Modal and 10% spandex have a similar sheer material and feel silky smooth next to skin. The Columbia Tri Blend has many of the attributes we love to see in a great pair of boxer briefs, including being super comfy, breathable, and well-made. The Saxx Non-Stop Stretch features a four-way stretch fabric, made out of mostly cotton, with added elastane to add recoil to the fabric.
