The Salomon ShakeOut Core T-Shirt feels like a reflection of where running apparel is headed. It is technical enough to perform when the miles get hard, but relaxed enough to feel good the moment you pull it on. Trading the skin-tight silhouettes of years past for a more spacious, athletic fit, the ShakeOut manages to look modern without sacrificing function. Its lightweight construction, airy 3D-knit fabric, and quick-drying performance make it an easy choice for warm-weather runs, long training days, and everyday adventures alike. While it may not boast every cutting-edge feature available, its thoughtful balance of comfort, breathability, and versatility makes it one of the most enjoyable shirts we tested.

Truth be told, the Salomon ShakeOut Core T-shirt was the shirt we were most excited to run in. Gone are the days of skin-tight athletic wear, and we are here for it. The fit of the ShakeOut T-shirt is at once spacious and flattering, offering a new-school take on athletic apparel.

At 2.89 ounces for a women's size small, the shirt feels light enough for speed sessions and summer runs while still offering a bit more substance than ultrathin race tops. It strikes a nice balance between minimalism and durability, helping it stand out as a top pick for outdoor running events. The fabric features a subtle 3D knit structure designed to increase airflow and regulate temperature while enhancing the shirt's durability. The design feels noticeably airy during runs and performs especially well in warm conditions.

The 100% polyester construction of the ShakeOut Core T-shirt wicks sweat efficiently and dries rapidly once conditions improve, even when sweltering beneath a steamy hydration pack. Salomon specifically highlights its quick-dry capabilities, making it a solid choice for sweaty workouts and unpredictable weather.

Dislikes
While the shirt's fabric is effective, the overall package feels more evolutionary than revolutionary. Compared with more tech-forward options featuring advanced odor-control treatments, certified UPF protection, or body-mapped ventilation systems, the ShakeOut Core can feel a bit conservative in that is offers no bells and whistles.
This running shirt dries quickly, which helps reduce odor buildup, but it lacks antimicrobial treatments that some competitors offer. After repeated sweaty efforts, it may require more frequent washing than odor-focused alternatives, though we never felt the odor exceeded an acceptable level after multiple sweaty runs.

Despite being marketed for outdoor use, Salomon does not advertise a specific UPF rating for the ShakeOut Core. It provides the inherent protection of polyester fabric, but runners seeking guaranteed sun protection may want something more purpose-built. Had a UPF rating been included, this shirt would have skyrocketed to the near-top of the heap.
Should You Buy the Salomon ShakeOut Core T-shirt?
While there are many elements to admire about the Salomon ShakeOut Core T-shirt, it isn't quite as tech-forward as many other shirts in the same price range. At this mid-range price, most running shirts feature odor-blocking yarns or a UPF rating, but the ShakeOut tee lacks both. We would absolutely buy this shirt again for the fit alone. Runners who prefer a more streamlined, race-oriented silhouette may find the fit slightly more relaxed than they prefer. Conversely, those wanting a truly casual fit might still perceive it as technical.

What Other Running Shirts Should You Consider?
The Arc'teryx Sunna Crew T-Shirt offers a fit and feel that are similar yet slightly more refined than what the Salomon ShakeOut offers. The Sunna offers a more feminine fit with underarm panels and flatlock stitching, in addition to its odor-blocking properties. Runners who want a shirt that feels a bit silkier against the skin should check out one of our favorites for ultimate comfort, the Rabbit EZ Tee. While not as rugged-feeling, the EZ Tee offers versatility and prime comfort. The Brooks Dash is similarly soft to the touch while also providing a more tapered, feminine silhouette.
