Our Verdict
Our Analysis and Test Results
Halfdays is a relative newcomer to the ski apparel scene, founded by Colorado-based Olympic skier Kiley McKinnon. The Halfdays Lawrence is a fully-featured, flattering insulated jacket that's perfect for staying cozy on the slopes. It's filled throughout the body and sleeves with just enough Primaloft synthetic insulation to keep you warm on most winter days. The insulation takes the guesswork out of layering in most conditions, allowing you to just wear a base layer beneath. We love this jacket's handy pockets and useful features. It comes in an impressive range of colors and sizes, from XXS to 2XL. We found it runs true to size.

The Halfdays Lawrence jacket scored relatively high points in the style department, ahead of many jackets in the review. Halfdays incorporates cute details like the zipper pulls and hem adjustability, offering a more style-forward vibe than many jackets on the market. We love the range of colors, from muted earth tones like the “Spiked Cocoa” brown that we tested, to pastels and bright colors that make a statement.
Adding to its style is this jacket's functionality. It comes with a long list of highly useful features: A powder skirt, soft wrist gaiters, a large built-in goggle wipe, fleece-lined chin guard, and more, giving this jacket high utility.
Dislikes
While it has some features working in its favor, the Halfdays Lawrence scored in the middle of the pack when it comes to breathability. Though this was one of the lower scores the Lawrence received, it had generally high scores across the board — so the breathability isn't that much of a shortcoming. The underarm vents themselves are excellent, measuring a generous 14 inches. They can be a bit challenging to re-zip with gloves on. However, the jacket fabric is not particularly breathable. The Lawrence prioritizes warmth, making it great for always-cold folks, but it's not the best jacket for balmy spring days or high-output skiing.
On the flip side, this jacket has a short hem that allows for airflow. However, that shorter hem provides less protection on stormy days and can let in drafts unless it's cinched down. As a result of being less breathable, though, the Lawrence does a decent job at blocking wind and wet precipitation.
Should You Buy the Halfdays Lawrence?
If you're looking for a stylish, weatherproof, insulated jacket made by women, for women, the Halfdays Lawrence is a great option. Few jackets on the market combine a fashion-forward look with such functionality and great features. Win-win. It might be too warm if you like to hike or spend a lot of time skiing in mild weather.
What Other Women's Ski Jackets Should You Consider?
Our favorite insulated jacket is the Patagonia Insulated Powder Town. If you want a jacket that's versatile enough for resort skiing as well as earning turns in the backcountry, our team loved the Flylow Billie Coat, a stylish shell jacket.
