Our Analysis and Test Results
The INNO Wedge 660 is a sleek, low-profile cargo box designed for both style and practicality. Measuring 80 inches long, 33 inches wide, and just 11 inches high, it offers 11 cubic feet of storage—enough space for skis, snowboards, or weekend gear—while still maintaining a streamlined shape that's garage-friendly. Installation is straightforward: the initial setup is quick, and afterward, the memory mount attachment system “remembers” your crossbar settings. This makes removing and reinstalling the box much faster and hassle-free. The dual-side opening lid adds to the convenience, letting you access your gear from either side of the vehicle.
Ease of Use
Of all the boxes we tested, the Wedge is one of the easiest to use, particularly when it comes to installation. This storage stash comes pre-assembled and is ready to mount directly onto your car's roof, so there's no need to fuss with extra parts or a complicated setup. Mounting it onto your vehicle's crossbars is straightforward and requires no additional tools.
The clamps are straightforward to slot into place and tighten. Once adjusted to fit for the first time, you can simply pop the lever to remove them in a flash. Reinstallation can now happen in no time. Simply align the clamp with the bars and snap the lever closed for a secure and snug fit. This tool-free system saves time and provides the flexibility to take the box on and off your car whenever you need extra roof space.
Loading and unloading the INNO Wedge 660 is aided by a dual-sided opening system, allowing accessibility from either side of the vehicle, which is particularly convenient in tight parking spaces or when maneuvering gear during trips.
Due to its low-profile design, the INNO Wedge 660 has more limitations when packing bulky items compared to taller, higher-capacity boxes. The slim height and narrower opening make it difficult to load oversized gear, and during testing, we found that fully packed 60L backpacks would not fit inside. While it's well-suited for slimmer items like duffels, camping gear, or snow sports equipment, the internal length accommodates skis only up to 182 cm. This may be restrictive for taller skiers or riders with longer skis and boards, who may need to look toward models with extended length.
Security
The INNO Wedge has a simple closure with a lock and key. One useful security feature is that the key will not come out of the lock unless you have firmly closed and locked the box. There is no other obvious visible indicator to confirm that the box is closed.
This cargo box performed on par with most of our others in terms of overall security. In our pre-testing research, we didn't come across complaints from other users regarding the penetrability of this box.
Quality
The INNO Wedge 660 is constructed from durable ABS plastic, giving it the strength to handle the bumps and scrapes of regular travel while maintaining its sleek appearance over time. Its weather-resistant shell offers dependable protection against the elements, keeping your gear dry and secure in rain, snow, and road spray.
The lid is reinforced to reduce flex, which helps it close securely even when the box is fully packed. In addition, the Wedge's streamlined, aerodynamic profile is designed to cut down on drag and wind noise, making highway driving smoother and quieter compared to bulkier rooftop boxes.
Appearance
Appearance is another metric where the INNO Wedge really stood out. The profile and finish of the cargo box give it a great profile that suits almost all car designs. Its low-profile silhouette complements the roofline, maintaining a sleek and stylish appearance while minimizing drag for improved fuel efficiency.
The Wedge is also available in white. When clean, this finish gives a particularly elegant look on top of cars.
Should You Buy the INNO Wedge?
If you're in the market for a sleek, low-profile roof box that combines style with practicality, the INNO Wedge 660 is worth a close look. Its streamlined design not only looks great on your vehicle but also makes it an excellent option for those who need to clear low garage doors or parking structures. Those who expect to unmount/ remount their cargo box regularly may also be drawn to its ease of reinstallation. Despite its compact profile, it offers secure, spacious storage with a durable build and user-friendly features. Whether you're packing up for a weekend getaway or loading gear for a cross-country adventure, this box provides reliable storage without sacrificing convenience or aesthetics.
What Other Cargo Boxes Should You Consider?
If maximizing storage space is your top priority, the Thule Motion 3 XL is a strong contender. While it gives up the slim, low-profile design of smaller models, it makes up for it with significantly more capacity—ideal for hauling bulkier gear, oversized duffels, or multiple large suitcases. This expanded size makes it especially useful for families, long trips, or outdoor adventures where extra packing room is essential, and it can easily house long skis. Budget-seeking adventurers who also value a low profile might opt for the SportRack Horizon Alpine, which doesn't have the same refined finish, but comes in at a much more palatable price point and can carry even the longest of skis.
