| Bottom Line | An eco-friendly bag with wide open compartments and minimalistic vibe that brings a unique style to the laptop backpack world | Well-armoured and large, this backpack is a legit choice if you need to carry a larger laptop and lots of accessories | High capacity, smart organization, reliable structure, and a large laptop compartment make this bag a great tool for commuters and travelers | A screaming good deal that has good enough quality, comfort, and function to hold up to daily use | If you're looking for inexpensive, basic, and comfortable, this pack fits the bill, but doesn't offer a lot in terms of protection |

Our Analysis and Test Results
Likes
At the top of our list is this pack's trendy look. The Everlane The ReNew Transit stands out. Particularly, we love its topside exterior pocket that folds down over the Everlane's main opening. It uses embedded magnets to lock into place. This overlap design does a great job of shielding the rest of the pack from light rain or snow. Most of all, we just think it gives this bag a unique look.
Eco-friendly is always an appealing feature of any product. We really like that nearly the entire pack is made from recycled materials, mostly recycled plastic bottles. The fabrics are relatively soft and pliable, which makes the Everlane easy to wear, very comfortable, and it fits nearly every body type.
The Everlane The ReNew Transit packs down flat. This is a nice feature for storage or travel. This bag's simple fabrics and basic design allow it to collapse as flat as a pancake (almost), which lets it be stored in a drawer or on a shelf, or sit in your luggage without taking up a lot of space.
Dislikes
The Everlane is not very structured, which lessens the amount of protection and carry support. We liked the location of its side-entry laptop compartment, but the padding is pretty thin and flexible. In fact, the entire pack is rather thin when it comes to cushioning, including the shoulder straps and back panel.
The Everlane doesn't have a sternum strap. This may not sound like a big deal, but this small buckle makes a huge difference in stabilizing and securing any pack when running to the bus stop, riding a bike, or hopping onto a scooter. Also, during our water tests, its exterior tended to absorb water instead of repel it. Although only a small amount of water seeped into the bag's interior, we were left wondering how well its shell would hold up in a serious downpour.
What Other Laptop Backpacks Should You Consider?
The Everlane is a more style-forward yet affordable way to carry your laptop to work or school, but if you're willing to spend a bit more, two other stylish options we liked are the Bellroy Tokyo Wonder Tote and the Troubadour Apex Backpack 4.0, both of which will give you a big step up in protection and organization. If you just want something simple and even more affordable, the Matein Travel is a highly functional option.
